ANCIENT OF DAYS

It is a phrase used to describe God the Father as an eternal, divine Judge with white hair and a white robe, seated on a throne of fire to preside over judgement.

Ancient of Days

This name of God fills me with so much hope.

The God I serve is the Ancient of Days!

Simply amaaazing!!!!

He was, He is, He is to come!

Hallelujah!!!

Where does this name appear in the Bible?

It is said to specifically appear three times in the Book of Daniel chapter 7; verses 9, 13 and 22. It is a phrase used to describe God the Father as an eternal, divine Judge with white hair and a white robe, seated on a throne of fire to preside over judgement.

What a sight!

““As I looked, “thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took his seat. His clothing was as white as snow; the hair of his head was white like wool. His throne was flaming with fire, and its wheels were all ablaze.” ‭‭Daniel‬ ‭7‬:‭9‬ NIV

““In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence.” Daniel‬ ‭7‬:‭13‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“until the Ancient of Days came and pronounced judgment in favor of the holy people of the Most High, and the time came when they possessed the kingdom.” Daniel‬ ‭7‬:‭22‬ ‭NIV‬‬

He is the Alpha and Omega!

The beginning and the end!

He is Sovereign!

He is wiser and more powerful than any earthly power.

What a God!

The words of the song “Ancient of Days” by CityAlight fill my heart with such hope and assurance in the God you and I serve.

Verse one emphasizes that God is King over all, despite all the happenings in this dark world. Our response is not to fear for God is in control.

Verse two captures the valleys we may go through in this life – the dread of night. We are assured that God is with us and He knows our name. El-Roi! WE ARE NOT ALONE!

Verse three looks into the future, unknown as it may be to us. BUT GOD! Our response should be to watch and wait on God. Our joy shall indeed be complete when we finally stand (or kneel or lie prostrate) before our Lord and God.

The chorus reminds us that all time is in the hands of God. Those hands! (That’s a whole blog on it’s own which I pray to write on one day)

Are you not in awe? I sure am! I am excited! 😄💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

I can’t end without paying tribute to a wonderful minister of God – the late Ron Kenoly. I grew up listening to his songs and I am so thankful to God for his life.  He allowed God to use him in song and his memory lives on. When I think of the name of God – Ancient of Days, one of his songs readily comes to mind.

Let’s surrender to God so that He does wonderful things in us and through us. It’s a dark world out there that needs God’s light.

Our God is the Ancient of Days! Amen and amen!!

God bless you! 😊🙏🏽
