LIVING WATER

Living water.

This term appears several times in Scripture. We all remember the Samaritan woman to whom Jesus offered living water, then in the verses below where Jesus spoke of the Holy Spirit. This “living water’ is said to represent spiritual life, refreshment and the indwelling Holy Spirit that sustains believers forever, contrasting with temporary physical water.

I was doing my devotion yesterday and these were the reference verses:

John 7:37-39 NIV –
On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink.
38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”
39 By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.

What a loving God we have!
If I start talking about God’s love, it won’t end.
It is simply amazingly overwhelming, reckless and boundless in just a few choice adjectives 😄.

Behold, what a manner of love that the Father has given unto us (2x)
That we should be called the sons of God! (2x)

God the Father!
God the Son!
God the Holy Spirit!
Three Persons in one God!

God the Father loved us so much that He sent His Son to die for our sins.
After spending 33 years on earth, the Son promised another who would come after Him: the Spirit.

John 14:25-26 NIV –
All this I have spoken while still with you.
26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

The Holy Spirit ! Oh how I love Him.
That still small voice.
He is amaaazing!
I can’t believe I didn’t know Him well; I’m still learning.
It is by His inspiration I write these very words and I never know where He’ll take a particular blog. 😄

Let’s look at some of the roles of the Holy Spirit in our life
• He regenerates us. Titus 3:5
• He teaches us the truth I of God. John 14:17
• He testifies to us the character of God. John 15:26
• He guides us along our walk with God. Romans 8:14
• He speaks to us to follow His leading. Acts 8:29-39
• He intercedes for us according to God’s will. Romans 8:26-27
• He comforts us with His presence, His truth and His peace. John 14:16
• He convicts us of our sin and selfishness. Galatians 5:16-17
• He fills us with Himself. Ephesians 5:18
• He produces fruit in our lives. Galatians 5:16
• He gives us gifts for service. 1 Corinthians 12:3-11
• He sanctifies us on earth. 2 Corinthians 3:18
• He seals our eternal redemption. Ephesians 1:13-14

That’s a lot huh?
That the God we serve oh.
He covers all the bases! 😍

Consider how a man like Peter who earlier had denied Jesus not once, but three times, later under the power of the Holy Spirit rose and boldly spoke to a large crowd of people and what happened? Three thousand people added to the number of believers that day.
Imagine what the Holy Spirit can do through you and I if we fully surrender.
Ours is to yield and allow God to work through us as He Himself empowers us.

What are you waiting for?
Yield Him service loyal true!

God bless you!
😊🙏🏽
