Where Are You?

By Carol Clegg-Lamptey Last updated: August 18, 2025 3 Min Read

Where are you?
What are you doing here?
There are questions God asked in the Bible in two instances that I’ll highlight below.

The first person had hidden from God as he heard Him walking in the garden.
Why? Because he had disobeyed God and eaten from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
When asked, he responded that when he heard God walking in the garden, he became afraid and hid because he was naked. 🤔
True to some extent, but God knew the real reason – disobedience.
Genesis 3:8-10

The second question was posed to a great prophet. God had used him to do something amazing – to demonstrate to the people of Israel that He was God in Israel. Fire from heaven had engulfed a very wet sacrifice of a bull on the altar and had even licked up all the water that was in the trench.
At the threat of Jezebel on his life, he was afraid and fled.
What was his answer to God when asked? He cited how he had zealously served God and how he felt he was the only prophet left, whose life was being threatened. He was fearful and discouraged.
1 Kings 18,19

What did these two individuals have in common in these instances?
They were both hiding.
They were afraid.

Fear is a terrible thing.
It’s been said that fear is an acronym standing for ’False Evidence Appearing Real’.
I’ve been there, many times, and I know many of you have too.
But God!

2 Timothy 1:7 NLT – For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

What is the antidote to fear?
Faith! Faith in God and His promises.
Though faith and fear can co-exist in a person’s heart, they cannot both be the dominant force at the same time.
Faith can be the driving force that helps a person overcome fear.

He has promised He will never fail
I will adore Him, I will adore Him
He has promised He will never fail
His faithfulness is evermore, His faithfulness is forevermore.

Let’s hold on to God’s promises., cling to them as if for our dear life.
As someone has said – read them, pray on them, talk about them, print them and hang them on your walls.

May we be like the wise man who built his house on the rock; so that even when the rains come down, the streams rise, the winds blow, and beat against us, we do not fall, firmly grounded on Christ, our solid foundation.
Amen and amen!

God bless you!

Faith is really the driving force. We need more of it. This reminds me of this saying” when fear knocks on our door let Faith open it. Thanks for this .

May our faith be firmly grounded in the Lord that nothing will be able to bring us down. We will forever remain steadfast. Amen
