Who Is This?

The crowds answered, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”

Who is this?

It’s a very blunt question don’t you think? 😅
It doesn’t mince words.
Let’s see the context in which it was used in God’s word. 😃

Matthew 21:6-11 NIV –
The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. 7 They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on. 8 A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted,
“Hosanna to the Son of David!”
“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”
“Hosanna in the highest heaven!”
10 When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this?”
11 The crowds answered, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”

The question was asked in wonder.
Imagine you’re in traffic and all of a sudden you chance upon a man standing through the sunroof of his car being hailed by a large crowd – the very cause for your traffic. I’m sure you’d wonder who he was, wouldn’t you?

This question was posed to us yesterday in the sermon at church : “Who is this Jesus to you?”
The following were identified as the basis of our response:
• The truth of God’s word.
• Our experience with Christ – it’s personal.
• The circumstances or situation demanding the answer – times of grief, loss or disappointment among others.
• The audience – could be fellow believers or unbelievers or an audience of one – yourself! 😅

What is your answer??
I’ll attempt to give mine. 😃

Jesus is my shepherd, my brother, my friend, my Prophet, Priest
and King, my Lord, my Life, my Way, my End and He is worthy of my praise!
(these are lines from stanza 3 of How Sweet the Name of Jesus Sounds)

My Jesus is the friend who sticks closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24)

Jesus is the lover of my soul!
Now that sounds very intimate doesn’t it?
Let’s see what this phrase really means. It is said to describe Jesus as the devoted Saviour who offers unconditional love, protection and eternal companionship to a believer. That’s our Jesus! 😍🥰

Jesus is the Firm Foundation of my life.
He is my Anchor in the storms of life.
Because of Christ in my vessel I can smile through the storms of life because He is with me and He is certainly with you too! He is in the room! (the song by Maverick City Music comes to mind)
Hallelujah!!!!
😄💃🏽💃🏽🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

I’ve found a Friend, O such a Friend!
He loved me ere I knew Him;
He drew me with the cords of love,
And thus He bound me to Him;
And round my heart still closely twine
Those ties which naught can sever,
For I am His, and He is mine,
Forever and forever.

Jesus! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world, may Your name be praised now and forever!
Amen and amen.

I put it to you,.. “Who is this Jesus to you?”

God bless you!
😊🙏🏽
