Something for Thee

Yesterday was one of those low days – we all have them don’t we? I almost believed that today’s blog wouldn’t happen. 😬  BUT GOD! 😅🙏🏽🙌🏾
He sent me sleep and the right people at just the right time. What a faithful God we serve!

The title for today’s blog is from a hymn we sang in my church this past Sunday. It made me reflective.
The third stanza especially:

Give me a faithful heart,
Likeness to Thee,
That each departing day
Henceforth may see
Some work of love begun,
Some deed of kindness done,
Some wand’rer sought and won,
Something for Thee.

At the close of every day of our lives, may we ponder and ask ourselves:
• “What did I do for God today?”
• “Who did I encourage today?”
• “Who did I help today?”
• “Who did I check on today.”
• “Who did I share the Good News with today?”
• “What mistakes did I make today and how can I improve on them tomorrow?”

Life!
So many funerals here and there, so many people dying in different age ranges.
The prayer?
Lord teach me to number my days, that I may gain a heart of wisdom.

We must have the mind of Christ in our daily lives and not be carried away by life with all its vicissitudes. They are a lot! 🤦🏽‍♀️

What is the mind of Christ?
I came across this definition and explanation:

The mind of Christ is an anointed mind with anointed thoughts, anointed ideas, principles and values and anointed wisdom and intelligence.
The mind of Christ has a revelation of who you are in Christ, what you can do through Christ as well as exactly how, when and where to do it.
The mind of Christ spiritually discerns the Holy Spirit’s guidance.

Steps to put on the mind of Christ:
1. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you put on the mind of Christ.
2. Receive the mind of Christ by grace through faith.
3. Take time everyday to meditate on the living Word of God.
Amen ooo!

Key to me is love. It should be the motive for all we do.
God is love and doesn’t love sum up the two greatest commandments?? It sure does! 😃

Ecclesiastes 9:10 NIV – Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.

Romans 12:1-2 NIV – Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.

2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Romans 12:4-8 NIV –
For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function,

5 so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.

6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith;

7 if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach;
8 if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

What is your gift(s)? Are you using it or have you buried it? Remember the parable of the talents? God rewarded each according to how they used what was given. The one who buried his lost the ‘little’ he was given. Nothing is little when it’s placed in God’s able hands. May the good Lord guide each of us daily to use our gifts in His vineyard. Amen!

God bless you!
