WILL YOUR ANCHOR HOLD?

Yes, we’ll be looking at the hymn. Such a wonderful hymn it is! 😍

The question is asked:

Will your anchor hold in the storms of life,
When the clouds unfold their wings of strife?
When the strong tides lift and the cables strain,
Will your anchor drift or firm remain?

This gives the picture of a storm, struggle and trouble. We see a lot of it in life.
Everybody’s got problems and that’s a fact.
For the follower of Christ, it is the BUT GOD that keeps us going in spite of what is going on around us; that keeps us on course.

An anchor, normally made of metal, serves to secure a vessel to the bed of a body of water to prevent the craft from drifting due to wind or current.

For the believer, our anchor of hope is JESUS Himself. He is the anchor for the soul (Hebrews 6:19).
He is the anchor not just for the immaterial part of our being, but for our entire life, both our body and soul.
As for troubles in this life, we’ll have plenty, do not let anyone deceive you. Jesus said it Himself, BUT, we are securely fastened to Jesus once we accept Him as our Saviour.
Praise God! 😄🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

Let’s look at the chorus:

We have an anchor that keeps the soul
Steadfast and sure while the billows roll,
Fastened to the Rock which cannot move,
Grounded firm and deep in the Saviour’s love.

This hymn was written based on Hebrew’s 6:19 it’s said.

Hebrews 6:19-20 NLT – This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.
20 Jesus has already gone in there for us. He has become our eternal High Priest in the order of Melchizedek.

May we remain connected to this anchor of hope we have.
We as humans have the tendency to drift.
The Christian walk is a relationship.
Relationships take time, effort, energy and commitment.

Are you making time for God?
Is He a priority in your life or you’re distracted by the things of the world?

Let me encourage you with the words of this hymn:

Cast care aside, lean on thy Guide;
His boundless mercy will provide;
Trust, and thy trusting soul shall prove
Christ is its life, and Christ its love.

God bless you!
