OUR FATHER

Our Father
These words first of all bring to mind the words of the Lord’s Prayer which Jesus taught the disciples as a model for prayer.
Whilst I’m on this subject, permit me to mention the 6Ps of prayer that I was taught a few days ago by a  lovely young lady. They are praise, purpose, pardon, petition, protection, persistence and guess what? More praise! 😄🙏🏽🙌🏾
He is worthy of it all isn’t He?

The word “Father” carries such weight.
Saying that God is our Father means that we are brought into a personal, loving family relationship with Him, characterized by adoption, intimate access, and His role as a perfect provider and protector!
Wow! I love this!

What are some core spiritual truths around this?

  • Adoption by grace. Grace! Through the acceptance of Christ as saviour, we are adopted into God’s household, making us heirs along with Christ.

Ephesians 2:8-10 NIV –
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Romans 8:16-17 NIV –
The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. 17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

  • Intimacy and access. God is not a distant or unapproachable ruler. No. We are able to approach Him freely with the affection and confidence that a child has with a loving parent.

Hebrews 4:16 NIV –
Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

  • Loving correction. Even our earthy parents correct us, how much more our Father in heaven who loves us more than they ever could.

Proverbs 3:11-12 NIV –
My son, do not despise the LORD’s discipline,
and do not resent his rebuke,
12 because the LORD disciplines those he loves,
as a father the son he delights in.

This line gets me 🥹 : Ultimately, the phrase “Our Father” signifies that we belong to God, who is deeply, emotionally, and sacrificially invested in our lives.
At this juncture I feel like running and dancing! 💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

What a God!
What a wow!

lt’s a great honour to write about the greatest father of all time- our Father in heaven.
He is above all things, He is all things, the I AM THAT I AM with whom there is no shadow of turning, the great God of wonders who loves us with an everlasting love! Yes that’s our God!
He loved us so much that He gave His only Son to die on the cross to save you and me, as sinful as we are.
What a Father! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙇🏽‍♀️🙇🏽‍♀️🙇🏽‍♀️

I saw an image shared on many a status yesterday and it was a beautiful reminder of who God is as a Father.

  • God is a protector. Psalm 91:4
  • God is a provider. Mark 6:31-32
  • An ever present Father. Psalm 46:1
  • A loving Father. Jeremiah 31:3
  • A Father who delights in us. Zephaniah 3:17
  • Compassionate Father. Psalm 103:13
  • An adoptive Father. Roman 8:15
  • A disciplining Father. Hebrews 12:6
  • A faithful Father. Deuteronomy 7:9
  • A forgiving Father. Luke 15:20

Thank You oh, my Father,
For giving us Your Son
And leaving Your Spirit till
Your work on earth is done.

Psalm 68:4-5 NIV –
Sing to God, sing in praise of his name,
extol him who rides on the clouds;
rejoice before him—his name is the LORD.
5 A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows,
is God in his holy dwelling.

No better time to praaaaaaaaaaaaaise the Lord!!!
💃🏽💃🏽🙌🏾🙌🏾🙏🏽🙏🏽🙇🏽‍♀️🙇🏽‍♀️

God bless you!
😊🙏🏽
