What do you choose?
This life is full of choices, some big, some small, but choices all the same.
Joshua 24:14-15 NKJV –
Serve the LORD! 15 And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell.
But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
What do you choose?
I have over the past few weeks watched a few after life experience accounts and it’s very sobering to listen to,..especially those of hell.
I’ll put down a few things I picked from the last one I watched:
– What you are before God is what you are eternally.
– As long as there is life, there is a chance for redemption.
– Pride is more than exalting yourself, it is refusing to be moulded by God.
– The final day, there will be no choice, but consequence.
– Death and life are in the power of the tongue.
– Vows taken before God are not to be taken lightly and breaking those vows requires true repentance.
Choosing God is not a play of words, but making a conscious, daily decision to put God first in our lives, surrender our ways to Him, and follow His commands.
It means to live with intentionality, always remembering that this world is not our home. We came into it with nothing and we leave with nothing.
There is life beyond this earth, the other side of eternity and what happens here counts greatly.
At funerals, I ponder.
As we are saying wonderful things about the departed, where are they?
May we as believers never stop reaching out to the lost. As we do so,.may we by the grace of God, live lives worthy of our calling.
As we step out today and every day of our lives, may we seek to please our Lord, reach out to others and knowing tomorrow is not promised.
May we not get distracted by the things of this world, appealing as they might be.
God sees it all, every thought, every motive, every action and inaction.
I’ll end with two stanzas from two different hymns.
Rescue the perishing, care for the dying,
snatch them in pity from sin and the grave;
weep o’er the erring one, lift up the fallen,
tell them of Jesus the mighty to save.
Refrain:
Rescue the perishing, care for the dying;
Jesus is merciful, Jesus will save.
Take my life and let it be
consecrated, Lord, to thee.
Take my moments and my days;
let them flow in ceaseless praise,
Jesus is the only way!
Philippians 2:9-11 NIV –
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
