AMBASSADORS!

By Carol Clegg-Lamptey Last updated: July 15, 2024 3 Min Read

I found this to be the topic of discussion on one of our morning drives to school. I’m sure my son was like, ” Here she goes again!” 😅

Who is an ambassador?
From the Collins dictionary, an ambassador is defined an important official who lives in a foreign country and represents his or her country’s interests there.

There are key words in this definition: ‘foreign country’, ‘represents’, as well as ‘interests’.

2 Timothy 2:3-5 NLT – Endure suffering along with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.  4 Soldiers don’t get tied up in the affairs of civilian life, for then they cannot please the officer who enlisted them.  5 And athletes cannot win the prize unless they follow the rules.

2 Corinthians 5:20-21 NLT – So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”

Do we as believers step out each day with this in mind or we forget ourselves? It may sound cliché, but I’ve found that one key thing to ask ourselves in every situation is this question – What would Jesus do? We are His representative after all. 🤷🏾‍♀️

These are some questions that were asked in my fathers book ‘Stand, Flee, Pursue’
• What do people associate you with?
• What is your reason for living?
• What is the essence of your life?
• What is your motivation for waking up and starting each day?
• Ultimately, what do you stand for??

As the saying goes – If you do not to stand for something, you will fall for anything.

Let’s take our stand for Jesus. He who promised is faithful.
We are in a battle, the battle lines are drawn. Evil and perversion are boldly and unashamedly flung in our faces. What is our response? Are we bold about who and what we stand for?

This verse makes me shudder

Luke 9:26 NLT –  If anyone is ashamed of me and my message, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when he returns in his glory and in the glory of the Father and the holy angels.

Let us boldly say with Paul:

Romans 1:16 NIV –
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.

Ambassadors! For Christ!

God bless you!
