Purpose 🤔

For the Christian, purpose is defined as fulfilling God’s divine plan, which involves glorifying Him, making disciples, loving others, growing in Christ, and serving His kingdom with unique gifts, ultimately finding meaning in a restored relationship with God through Jesus Christ, not personal ambition. It’s about living out God’s redemptive story through actions, worship and service, finding fulfilment in alignment with His will.

When I think of purpose, many songs come to mind.
These are the words of one of them:

You are my Purpose
For being Alive
The Glories of this World
Do not Compare
To the Day when I’ll meet You
I’ll Stare in your Eyes
When you Ask me How Far
I’ll Say Jesus, I Tried

It’s good to have good friends eh!
One of my dear sisters in the Lord invited me to an online meeting where the topic of purpose was being tackled. I promptly joined and listened.
I mean, who can say no to such an invitation? 😃

These are some questions we should ask ourselves
1. Who am I?
2. Where am I going?
3. Who will come along?

As for identity, it’s a whole topic on its own but simply put, we as believers identify ourselves as children of God and anything else that God’s word speaks of us, we accept and declare it true in the name of Jesus! Amen!!!

Where are we going?
The words of this song answers it for me – “We are going, heaven knows where we are going, we know we’re there. It will be hard we know, that the road will be muddy and rough, but we will get there, heaven knows how we will get there, we know we will”
We’re on a highway to heaven. That’s our final destination isn’t it?
This world is not our home, we’re just sojourners.

Hebrews 13:14 NLT –
For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come.

Philippians 3:20-21 NLT – But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior.
21 He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same power with which he will bring everything under his control.

On this side of eternity too, God has a purpose for each of us and this was or is predefined by Him before we were born. Is that not amazing?!
What a God!

Jeremiah 1:4-5 NLT –
The LORD gave me this message:
5 “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb.
Before you were born I set you apart
and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.”

Purpose was defined as the totality of the impact we are to make with our lives.
Can we achieve it on our own? No way!
We could easily get derailed and go off the path. Just look at what happened to Christian in Pilgrim’s Progress. BUT GOD!

What we need to do  is to commit our lives into God’s hands daily, that He leads us where we should go and that His will and not ours be done.
Jesus is our perfect example.

Luke 22:41-42 NLT – He walked away, about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and prayed,
42 “Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”

Who’s coming along?
This one!
God has destined for certain people to help us along the path of our destiny.
Parents, family, friends, perfect strangers.
It’s amazing!
These days I know that anyone who crosses my path in a particular way is not just coincidence. I sense it deep within me that there’s a role either I have to play in their life or they in mine.

May God open our eyes to see to unique purpose that He has for each of us.
This point rang loud for me – not to compare ourselves to others. God’s purpose for us is unique. This reminds me of the blog on staying in our lane. We each have a race to run; mine is very different from yours. My path may take me to places yours may never take you, through valleys and hills, yet the same God guides us all.

I’ll end with this verse.

Isaiah 30:21 NIV – Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”

God, please open our ears to your guidance daily so that we achieve the wonderful purpose you have for us on this earth.

God bless you!
😊🙏🏽
