SURRENDER

Carol Clegg-Lamptey

This word is one many people are not comfortable with or may have mixed feelings about. For the believer in Christ however it is a very necessarry place we must come to.

To me, surrender means to hand over my whole life to God, not holding back anything, after all what do I have that I wasn’t given??
I’m not saying it’s an easy thing to do, but it is what our Lord and God calls us to do.
What does the hymn say? – Trust and obey, for there is no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

Na waaa oh!

When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will, He abides with us still
And with all who will trust and obey

Wikidpedia gives this definition to surrender (in the Christian sense)
To surrender in spirituality and religion means that a believer completely gives up his own will and subjects his thoughts, ideas, and deeds to the will and teachings of a higher power. It may also be contrasted with Submission. Surrender is willful acceptance and yielding to a dominating force and their will.

It is not a joke is it?
It’s an active process.
It’s a daily process, a daily attitude.

The thought of surrender brings the phrase to mind — LET GO AND LET GOD.

This hymn also comes to mind. Ponder on the words.

1. Take my life, and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to Thee;
Take my moments and my days,
Let them flow in ceaseless praise.

2. Take my hands, and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love;
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee.

3. Take my voice, and let me sing
Always, only, for my King;
Take my lips, and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee.

4. Take my silver and my gold;
Not a mite would I withhold;
Take my intellect, and use
Every power as Thou shalt choose.

5. Take my will, and make it Thine;
It shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart; it is Thine own;
It shall be Thy royal throne.

6. Take my love; my Lord, I pour
At Thy feet its treasure-store.
Take myself, and I will be
Ever, only, all for Thee

Below are some Bible verses I came across.

Matthew 16:24-27 NLT

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me.
25 If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.
26 And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?
Is anything worth more than your soul?
27 For the Son of Man will come with his angels in the glory of his Father and will judge all people according to their deeds.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NLT –

Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God?
You do not belong to yourself,
20 for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.

Romans 12:1 NLT –
And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.

God dey paaaaa!!!!!

He will grant us the grace to do this and more. He is more than able. All He needs is a willing heart. Man looks at the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart.

God bless you in this new month. We keep our eyes fixed on Him and that is how we’ll stay afloat in these uncertain times.

BUT GOD!!!!!!!!
