USE ME, LORD

Carol Clegg-Lamptey

How easily can we say these words to God???

It is not a joke.
It’s like we’re telling God : I am available, put me to work as You will not I will.
It’s a serious distin.
God can give you any task at all,.. obviously,.. it may not be easy, but God equips us for the task.
Our duty is to trust and obey and call on Him to guide and strengthen us.
The task may seem odd, strange to those around us, BUT GOD!!!

For the past few weeks in church, we have been looking at obedience.
Let’s look at the account of Mary.

Luke 1:26-38 NIV –

In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee,

27 to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary.

28 The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”

29 Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be.

30 But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God.

31 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus.

32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David,

33 and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”

34 “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”

35 The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.

36 Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month.

37 For no word from God will ever fail.”

38 “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.

Ei,.. sometimes the Bible characters can make us look bad.
I’m not sure the old me would have responded like that oo.
Even the new me! 🤣🤣🤣
“Be it onto me according to thy Word’” 🌚

I’m more of a Moses (Exodus 4: 1-17),..but we thank God for His transforming power.
My nos are becoming more of a yes.
We’re changing small small by Gods grace. 😅

Jesus is our perfect example in the Garden of Gethsemane.
Can you imagine what He went through???
His sweat was described to be like drops of blood,..yet,.. what did He conclude??
“My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, MAY YOUR WILL BE DONE.”
Wow!!!

What has the Lord been placing on your heart to do??
Are you acting like Jonah and running away or are you availing yourself and following the example of our Lord Jesus??
We call ourselves Christians for a reason. 😃

Ponder on the words of the hymn below.
May the good Lord bless and keep us all.
In Jesus’ Mighty Name,
Amen and amen!!!!

There’s a work for Jesus, ready at your hand,
’Tis a task the Master just for you has planned.
Haste to do His bidding, yield Him service true;
There’s a work for Jesus none but you can do.

Refrain:
Work for Jesus, day by day,
Serve Him ever, falter never; Christ obey.
Yield Him service loyal, true,
There’s a work for Jesus none but you can do.

There’s a work for Jesus, humble though it be,
’Tis the very service He would ask of thee.
Go where fields are whitened, and the lab’rers few;
There’s a work for Jesus none but you can do.

There’s a work for Jesus, precious souls to bring,
Tell them of His mercies, tell them of your King.
Faint not, nor grow weary, He will strength renew;
There’s a work for Jesus none but you can do.
