Motive is an interesting concept, isn’t it? It’s not just about getting something done; it’s considering the “why” behind the action. 🤔
Motive is very important to God.
What does the Word of God have to say about motive?
1 Samuel 16:7 NIV – But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him.
The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”
Proverbs 16:2 NIV –
All a person’s ways seem pure to them,
but motives are weighed by the LORD.
2 Corinthians 9:7 NIV – Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
James 4:3 NIV –
When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.
This Christian walk is not a joke at all. 😅
We have a God who looks right into our hearts.😬
He’s not like man who can only see the outward appearance. Wow!
🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
So I put it to you,…(I love saying that out loud!) what is the motive or reason for the things you do on a daily basis?
Why are you helping your friend?
Why are you going for that wedding or funeral?
Why are you getting married?
Why do you go to church?
Why do you praise God?
The questions are endless. 😃
Let’s daily examine ourselves to get to the heart of the reason behind our various actions, especially when it comes to the things of God.
He sees it all.
He knows it all.
He is ever present.
I often wonder about this – do people realize that God sees our every action?
There’s no place we can hide from Him.
When we think no one can see us, God does.
Hmmmmm.
This hymn come to mind and may it be our prayer:
Father, I know that all my life is portioned out for me,
And the changes that are sure to come I do not fear to see;
But I ask Thee for a present mind intent on pleasing Thee.
God bless you! 🤗
What’s your reason?? 👀👀😄
Yes, there is a reason for the things we do. I have always dwelt on this passage and it has helped me so much. Colossians 3: 17, 23. That is my reason for doing things. Thank you so much for helping us reflect on life.
Amen!
Thanks so much for sharing those verses.
God bless you!
