WHAT ARE YOU SAYING??

Carol Clegg-Lamptey

Who believes that words are powerful?
I do! In response to this question, I’d raise both my hands and feet if possible! 😅

I was reflecting on the words of the song ‘Ancient words’

Words of Life, words of Hope
Give us strength, help us cope
In this world, where e’er we roam
Ancient words will guide us Home

Words of life . That’s a deep statement. 🤔
God’s Words give life; the words of the Bible give life!

So, I ask the question; “What are you saying??”

The story comes to mind of a lady in the Bible by the name Abigail. She saved her husband and her entire household from a certain death in the way she spoke to King David. She was described as being intelligent and discerning; her husband Nabal as surly and mean. Who you marry is very important! 😄 One wonders how she ended up with such a man. Arranged marriage?? Let me not digress. 😇

Please read 1 Samuel 25: 1-35

The Bible says that a gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. Proverbs 15:1. You cannot control what people say to you. You have control over how you respond to them. Respond in anger and the fight is on! Respond gently and though you may appear ‘weak’, oh my, you are the stronger one, the wiser one. May the Holy Spirit show us how to respond in our daily interactions!

What are you saying about the situation you find yourself in?
What are you saying about others?
What are you saying about God?
What are you saying about yourself?

I’m learning to catch myself.
If you’re not careful,..you find that you’re actually cursing yourself by the things you say, cursing your own children! 😱

The Bible warns us about this tongue in James 3: 1-12.

What should we be using our tongues for?
To speak life into our situations.
To encourage the next person.
To praise and worship our God.
To rebuke those thoughts that come to enslave us. To speak the Word of God!

As for negativity I know a lot about it! 😅
How refreshing it is to be positive. 😄
To surround yourself with positive people.
To see the silver lining in the cloud.
To see the glass half full and not half empty. 😇

How can you tell yourself that you’re ugly??? 🫢
Ooooh no,..tell yourself this -“I am fearfully and wonderfully made! Created in the image and likeness of God Himself!” 💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽

Instead of saying ” I’m broke”.
Tell yourself: ” I may be low on cash,..but I trust God to supply all my needs according to His riches in glory”. Is He not Jehovah Jireh?? Has He promised and ever failed? He keeps His Word!

May God touch our lips that the words that come out of it end up building up and not destroying.
That they heal rather than wound. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

Amen and amen!!!!

God bless you!
🤗

What are you telling yourself today?? 👀👀👀

Please comment! It gets lonely on this side of the blog. But God is faithful! 😁🥰
